Lifestyle Coordinator

Summary of program and its objectives:

The Brotherhood aims to be the leader in aged care in Victoria, not only in the provision of quality services but also in undertaking research, policy development and advocating on behalf of our consumers and the sector. At the Brotherhood the focus is enabling older people who access our services to flourish. Our service model is based on person centred care and the Enhancing Capabilities Approach which ensures that older people experience a trusting environment that provides opportunities and choices that enable them to live the lives they value and maximise the older person’s independence and autonomy.

This encompasses valuing diversity including cultural preferences, sexual orientation and gender identity.

Sambell Lodge located in Clifton Hill is a 43 bed facility offering its residents quality care and friendship in a warm and welcoming environment. This 43 bed facility offers specialised services to include lifestyle support, dementia management and individual care.

It is an exciting time to join Sambell Lodge as a new 117 bed development is underway. The new building has been designed to take into account the character of the local neighbourhood and take our residents into the future.

Main responsibilities of the role:  

The role of the Lifestyle Coordinator is to empower residents to flourish through living a life they have reason to value through provision of social, educational and recreational opportunities that enable autonomy and choice.

To meet the selection criteria, candidates will require:


  • Certificate III in Aged Care or above
  • Understanding of recreational planning and program development for older people
  • Current Level 2 First Aid certificate and Victorian Driver’s License with the competency to drive a mini bus
  • Demonstrated experience and technical skills along with a sound working knowledge of all aspects of aged care
  • Knowledge and experience of working with people with complex care needs
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability provide information and liaise across all levels internally and externally
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan workload, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook and strong understanding of statistics
  • Specific work requirements include occasional weekend work and evening shifts and attendance at a variety of different work locations
  • Understanding of and empathy with the values and ideals of the Brotherhood

This position is a full-time, 12 month fixed term contract with the possibility of extending, working either 9am-5pm or 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Salary will be in the range of $48,630.40 to $50,290.24 per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation. Attractive salary packaging provisions are available to increase take home pay.
