We are creating an Industry Association for the smoke alarm industry.  We believe the industry is at a size and stage where an Industry Association will be highly beneficial to the community and the industry and will greatly assist in enhancing community safety.  

The Association will be similar to the FPA but for the smoke alarm industry.  

The objects of the Association are to:

  1. The Company’s object is to pursue the following charitable purposes(s):
  • Leading and supporting a professional smoke alarm industry for a safer community
  • Provide information, services and education to the smoke alarm industry and broader community
  • Encourage, promote and educate to develop interest and awareness in smoke alarms, and the saving of lives through smoke alarms
  • Advocating for continuous improvement of legislation, codes and standards
  • Guidance and direction of industry best practice
  • Provide advocacy to influence change and deliver improved fire safety outcomes for the community
  • Develop and administer accreditation schemes that recognise the skills and knowledge of individuals providing services in the smoke alarm industry
  • Assist any person, organisation or body whose objective it to promote the benefits of, and improve the methods of, smoke alarm use and compliance 
  • Cooperate with Governments and authorities throughout Australia in promoting and developing strategies to save lives and property through smoke alarms
  • Promoting smoke alarms as an integral part of a balanced fire protection solution
  • Developing and delivering high quality training and educational programs
  • Promoting legislation compliant installations
  • Working with legislative bodies in the development of legislation
  • Supporting competency for designers, technicians, electricians and testing personnel
  • Enhancing the smoke alarm industry through professional training and educational programs
  • Do all such other things as are incidental or conductive to the attainment of the objects and the exercise of the powers of the Company
